The British Red Cross help anyone, anywhere in the UK and around the world, get the support they need if crisis strikes.
Around the world, whenever a humanitarian crisis occurs, the Red Cross or Red Crescent is always one of the first organisations on the scene thanks to their kind volunteers. Today, the challenges posed by an unpredictable and often changing global landscape have never been greater.
We were able to support The British Red Cross through the ‘MKCC Fund’
Recently we gave The British Red Cross in Milton Keynes £1,500 through the MKCC Fund towards their ‘Destitution Service’ helping 20 asylum seekers, refugees & vulnerable migrants with practical support needs, who would not otherwise be in a position to support themselves due to immigration issues &/or lack of access to support services and benefits
In a time of great stress and uncertainty, the supermarket cash cards, accommodation and bus tickets provided dignity and empowerment by enabling the recipients to purchase the food and other essentials that each family and individual needed. This meant that they did not have to rely solely upon food parcels, which may not have met all practical, fresh food, personal, sanitary and dietary needs.
How you can get involved
Volunteer to help with Welcome MK
Welcome MK is an emerging movement of people passionate about giving refugees and migrants what they need for today and a brighter hope for tomorrow.
From meeting immediate needs to helping find a settled home, education and employment, they work to bring hope to the individuals and families who often arrive into our community with nothing but the clothes they are wearing.
