Since our Generous Life series last October we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of those who pledged and have donated to the All In Fund. Pastor Mark outlines the latest information below and how this is making a difference already in people’s lives.
In 2003, through a miraculous set of circumstances, we connected with Jacob Williams, founder of India Gospel Mission in Chennai, India. What started as a short visit to Milton Keynes has turned into a 20-year partnership with Jacob, transforming countless lives of the most vulnerable people in our world.
A few years ago, Jacob went to be with his Saviour Jesus, but India Gospel Mission continues to go from strength to strength under the guidance of his son Joe. We are so privileged to be able to continue investing in their work through your giving to our annual All In Campaign.
Earlier this month, we heard from Pastor Joe about some of the latest life-changing work India Gospel Mission has been doing in Chennai. Here’s what Joe shared:
Day Of Remembrance
“April marked the 10-year anniversary of our founder Jacob Williams’ passing. We marked the date with a special Remembrance Day. It was wonderful to host so many schoolteachers, government officials, and supporters. People have been so generous – gifting new land, funding our ‘After Care Project’, and supporting the feeding program. One person gifted a food truck! We celebrated just how Pastor Jacob would have wanted. We opened the park, welcomed the children and distributed free food from our new food truck. We also provided educational support for children who have been orphaned and are not able to afford notebooks, bags or stationery items.
Making The News
The Remembrance Day was broadcast on television and reported in local newspapers. We were also honoured to host our Member of the Indian Parliament and Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, as well as representatives from the local Council, who acknowledged much of the work we have done in Chennai over the last few years.
Blessing To Thousands
It was both humbling and encouraging to hear their appreciation for India Gospel Mission’s work. They recalled how we rescued villagers during the cyclone and floods, provided food during the COVID-19 lockdown, and showed their appreciation for our lead in rescuing children – young girls in particular – providing them with a safe home. In honour of our achievements, we were presented with the ‘Best Child Care Institutions Award’ and honoured in the traditional Tamil way. I am filled with gratitude as to how God is using the India Gospel Mission as a blessing to thousands of people.
God At Work
I truly believe God is at work in every step. I want to thank you all at Milton Keynes Christian Centre for your prayers, support, and encouragement. Thank you so much, from my bottom of my heart.”
Thank you, again, for your continued faithfulness in giving towards the All In Campaign and in particular to our Mission’s Fund, partnering with Pastor Joe and the team at India Gospel Mission. Last October, we launched a fund to raise a total of £100,000 towards the vision for our church, our city, and across the world in places like Chennai, India. In just the last seven months alone, we have already raised £86,652.
All In – Church: £20,752
All In – Community: £24,874
All In – Mission: £41,026
I have been thanking God for the generosity of our church this week to our partners at India Gospel Mission, and as I write this short note, I am reminded of the wise words captured by King Solomon. I am praying it over your life today.
