In 2023 our Be Rich campaign raised over a whopping £14,000 for our ForMK Crisis Fund. That’s huge! But hey, it’s not just about the money. This fund is like a ray of light for folks in our community who really need a helping hand. Here is just one of the stories of how your giving makes a difference.

The Challenge: A Sudden Change Just Before Christmas

In a cosy bungalow in our community, a couple faced an unexpected turn of life just before Christmas. Let’s call them Sarah and John. Their lives took a dramatic turn when their daughter attempted suicide. As a result, Sarah and John welcomed their two young grandchildren into their one-bedroom home. The children arrived with little more than the clothes on their backs, no toys, and hearts heavy with confusion and sadness.

Sarah and John, who had spent their life savings supporting their daughter, found themselves in a dire situation. With Christmas around the corner, they were heartbroken at the thought of not being able to provide a festive experience for their grandchildren.

The Turning Point: A Community Rallies Together

As the days led up to Christmas, the situation seemed bleak. But hope arrived in the form of the Moorlands Family Centre who, after exhausting all other avenues, reached out to the ForMK Team at Milton Keynes Christian Centre (MKCC). The story of Sarah, John, and their grandchildren touched our hearts and we had to respond.

Through the Crisis Fund created through the generosity of our Be Rich campaign, a wave of support flowed towards this family. The Fund provided not just the essentials, like food and clothes, but also a little extra to ensure that the children experienced the joy and wonder of Christmas.

A Christmas of Hope and Joy

Thanks to the kind-heartedness of the community, Sarah and John were able to give their grandchildren a memorable Christmas. The children woke up on Christmas morning to find presents under a small tree, a symbol of love and care from people they had never met. For a moment the challenges faded, replaced by smiles, laughter, and the magic that every child deserves to experience at Christmas.

The Impact: More Than Just Material Gifts

This act of kindness did more than provide material gifts; it brought a sense of normality and joy to two young lives shaken by upheaval. It gave Sarah and John hope and strength, knowing that they were not alone in this journey. The community’s support was a testament to the power of collective generosity and compassion.

The Ripple Effect of Generosity

This story is a beacon of hope showing how, even in the darkest of times, light can shine through. It’s a reminder of the impact we can have when we come together to support one another. In the spirit of giving, loving, and serving, we can transform lives and spread hope.

As we continue to support each other through the Be Rich campaign and beyond, let’s remember the difference we can make. “Give a little, change a lot” – these words have never rung truer than in the story of Sarah, John, and their grandchildren. Let’s keep this spirit of generosity alive, for it is in giving that we receive the most profound gifts.
