About The Series
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
Helen Howarth Lemmel (1863-1961)
Over and over again God’s Word describes for us what it is like to encounter Jesus face to face. Many of these encounters were unexpected but all left an indelible mark. In the form of a Theophany, he appears to Old Testament saints such as Joshua who receives a visit from an unexpected ally in the ferocious heat of battle.
Through his ministry in first-century Palestine, the Gospels describe a number of encounters of both Jews and Gentiles with Jesus Christ. From the encounter with Nathaniel to the encounter with Pontius Pilate, the writers of the Gospels describe the varying reactions of people to this One who claimed the authority of God Himself.
This summer we invite you again to turn your eyes ‘unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith’ and encounter Him again, Face to Face, through the eyes of men and women who looked into his eyes.
