In today’s forMK Community Spotlight, we’re excited to share the story of one of our own – Dee Gour. Dee is an incredible member of our church family who actively serves in the Milton Keynes community. She’s part of the Warm Spaces initiative, a wonderful project that’s making a big difference in our area. Let’s dive into her story.

Q: Hi Dee, can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Dee: Hello! I’m Dee Gour, and I’m thrilled to be part of this amazing community here in Milton Keynes.

Q: What exactly do you do to serve our local community?

Dee: I volunteer with the Warm Spaces initiative. It’s all about opening doors to local communities, offering everyone a free, warm, and friendly space. I help out by being there for people who come in, whether they’re seeking a bit of warmth, a friendly chat, or just a place to connect with others. It’s more than just a space; it’s about creating a welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels included.

Q: That sounds wonderful! Why do you do it?

Dee: I do it because I believe in the power of community and connection. In these challenging times, with the cost-of-living crisis affecting so many, it’s important to have a place where people can come and not feel alone. I want to be that warm, welcoming face, a listening ear for anyone who needs it. It’s about letting people know they’re not alone and that there’s always someone there to help. We’re all in this together, and if I can make even a small difference, then that’s enough for me.

Over to you

Dee’s commitment to serving through Warm Spaces is an inspiring example of the love and dedication we see in our community. She is truly Committed to Community. It’s stories like Dee’s that remind us of the impact we can make when we come together.
